The importance of rest...

Resting is training.

A reminder to listen to your body - sometimes it is asking for rest and we should not feel guilty about doing so. There is so much crash and burn mentality around asking people to strive for more, when sometimes with rest the greatest healing can occur.

The body actually needs to rest when you are training - be that dance, running, going to the gym, Pilates, Yoga… Repeated activity with no days off can actually have the reverse effect of what you are trying to achieve!

Rest doesn’t always mean going to sleep (although that is great too!) but can be a constructive or active rest. This form of rest releases excess tension from the body and can be more restorative than sleep, making us feel more alert and freer in our bodies and movement. That’s another bit of magic our bodies can perform ✨✨✨
